BossaBox
... a Linux based PVR.

Hardware

The BossaBox is a complete PC with a motherboard, a processor, a video card, etc. The motherboard is a well known model from VIA, the EPIA-M. This motherboad features a fanless 600MHz C3 processor, a CLE266 video card and a sound processing unit. All these components are embedded in a small ITX format motherboard making it perfect to build small PVR units.

Connected to the motherboard, a Hauppauge PVR-350 card provides hardware MPEG2 decoding and encoding coupled with a audio/video output link. A radio, a TV tuner and a audio/video input connection can also be found on the card.

Software

On these components we run a Linux 2.6 kernel with the Bossa extension.

The PVR-350 is controlled thanks to the ivtv drivers.
